Respawn Entertainment have released a cryptic clue that suggests the Leviathans that roam around the outside of the Apex Legends map may cause huge problems for players in the near future.
Since Apex Legends launched, players have noticed the massive creatures in the water that surrounds Kings Canyon, and while they originally stood in one place, they have started to move inland towards the play area.
Now, developers Respawn appear to have addressed the animals movement, and give a stark warning that they may not be friendly when they reach dry land.
In an Instagram post on June 12 from the official Apex Legends account, a message titled “L001 > DATA LOG AZ71P” is shown, with the “L001” portion of the caption apparently referring to one of the Leviathans.
The message reads: “L001 is moving southbound at a rate of ten klicks per hour after a sixteen-hour rest interval. This is yet another significant rest-time reduction. We suspect L001 is exhibiting signs of territorial behavior or distress. We will continue gathering data and attempt to determine the issue.”
Stuck to the top of a screen is a post-it note, which reads “What’s wrong with Rosie?”, which could be referring to one of the beasts, or to a possible new Legend who was mentioned in the game’s files at launch.

It appears that the Leviathans are keen to get back on land, with an image from the Origin login page showing the creatures standing on the island beside The Repulser, which was used to keep them at bay but appears to be broken.
The Apex Legends Season 2 trailer also appears to show players zooming past the eye of one of these monstrous creatures, so it seems certain that they will invade Kings Canyon imminently.
With Season 2 set to kick off on July 2, players should keep an eye on the creatures to see if their invasion is the final act of Season 1, or used to kick off the new season.
