Call of Duty wins big at 2018 Esports Awards

Call of Duty esports was given a big dose of recognition at the 2018 Esports Awards held on November 12.

With a total of nine nominations, CoD esports was well represented at the prestigious awards ceremony in London, England, in terms of both industry and individual members.

An impressive seven out of the nine nominees were voted in the top three of their respective categories, with three of them placing first.

100 Thieves pro player Kenny ‘Kenny’ Williams took two pieces of hardware at the event, winning the Console Rookie of the Year category while also placing third in the Console Player of the Year race.

Kenny played an instrumental role in Team Kaliber’s outstanding WWII season, during which the team won three major tournaments and placed first at the 2018 CWL Championship.

FaZe Clan’s Preston ‘Priestahh’ Greiner, who was also nominated in that category, finished in third behind Kenny and FIFA World Champion ‘Msdossary.’

His FaZe teammate Dillon ‘Attach’ Price received a first-place award for his remarkably gutsy play against OpTic Gaming in the grand finals of the CWL Pro League Stage One Playoffs, which was voted Play of the Year.

The play ended up securing a crucial game of S&D, and ultimately helped FaZe win their first major event in over three years. 

CWL caster Clint ‘Maven’ Evans was voted the best Broadcaster of the Year for his outstanding work during the WWII season, especially an the spectacular CWL Champs event in August.
