Modern Warfare Season 2 trailer leaked: new maps, weapons, Battle Pass

Modern Warfare’s Season 2 trailer has leaked ahead of the February 11 update, revealing a slew of new information from maps such as Rust to additional weapons and more. 

While previous leaks gave a first-look at various Battle Pass details and hinted at the inclusion of certain maps in the seasonal update, the official Season 2 trailer has leaked ahead of time confirming a wide array of details.

From the heavily rumored return of Modern Warfare 2’s Rust map, to sprawling Ground War battlegrounds, and an entirely new Battle Pass, the leaked trailer revealed just what fans can expect when the Season 2 update is released.

The leaked trailer opens with a shot of fan-favorite Modern Warfare 2 character Simon “Ghost” Riley, as the iconic masked figure turns over the body of a downed soldier. 

Confirming previous teases, which indicated Ghost would be a playable Operator in Season 2, the character appears identical in the cinematic as to earlier visual leaks.

The video then transitions to a fly-through of Rust, the popular Modern Warfare 2 map. Having been reimagined for the latest Call of Duty, this will mark the first playable iteration of the close-quarters stomping grounds since 2009. 

Maintaining both its appearance and layout, the trailer showcases all aspects of combat on the returning map, including the historic high ground vantage point.

Infinity Ward

Rust will be playable again for the first time in 11 years.

Moreover, the leaked trailer unveiled a number of additional maps that are expected to be implemented with the major Season 2 update.

First on display was the Atlas Superstore location, which appears to be a new battleground for standard game types like Domination and Team Deathmatch.

Urzikstan, the home of a brand new Gunfight map known as Bazaar, also made an appearance in the trailer. This addition to the 2v2 playlist seems to feature frantic indoor and outdoor lanes for close and long-range engagements respectively. 

Infinity Ward

The new Ground War map could be one of the biggest yet.

Zhokov Boneyard was revealed as the latest Ground War map to be implemented in Modern Warfare. With scattered plane wreckages across the massive battlefield, players are able to dip in and out of combat or even ride straight overhead in various other grounded vehicles. 

New weapons were also on display throughout the trailer, though not much can be discerned from the few seconds of footage.

However, previous leaks indicated that two new weapons will be introduced: both the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle and the Strike 45 SMG.

Call of Duty

The Season 2 update is set to be released on Tuesday, February 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. 

There’s no indicating the exact time for the major content drop, however, updates of this nature typically roll out at around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET.
