Call of Duty developers Treyarch have hinted at some of the new content that’s coming soon to the Multiplayer in Black Ops 4.
On April 1, in reply to fan asking about the upcoming content in Multiplayer, the official Twitter account of Treyarch teased at what players should expect to see in the coming weeks.
“Barebones goes live for all platforms tomorrow, then we’ll be dropping Infected up next,” they tweeted. “Followed by free Arsenal Sandstorm map for everyone, and of course, a new batch of Multiplayer maps when our next Operation kicks off later this month. Can’t wait!”
Yes! Barebones goes live for all platforms tomorrow, then we'll be dropping Infected up next, followed by the free Arsenal Sandstorm map for everyone, and of course, a new batch of MP maps when our next Operation kicks off later this month. Can't wait!

What is Barebones in Black Ops 4 Multiplayer
Barebones is a special Multiplayer playlist in Black Ops 4 that does not allow players to use certain things that they normally can in the default modes, such as Specialist abilities and equipment, weapon Operator Mods, or Gear, such as Stim Shot, Armor, Acoustic Sensor, etc…
Currently, the only Multiplayer modes available in the Barebones playlist are Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardcore TDM, and Hardcore Domination.
The Barebones playlist went live for PlayStation 4 players on March 26, and will be available on the Xbox One and PC starting April 2.
What is Black Ops 4 Infected and when does it go live?
Initially announced on March 25, it appears that the Infected mode is coming to Black Ops 4 sooner rather than later. The highly popular mode features a lobby of ‘survivor’ players trying to avoid the one ‘infected’ player.
As the match goes on, any survivor that comes into contact with the infected player also becomes infected, until either all of the players become infected or the timer runs out, at which point all survivors are crowned victors.

While the release date for this mode has not yet been officially announced, it looks as though it’ll come shortly after the Barebones release.
As per Sony’s exclusivity agreement with Activision, this mode will likely first only be available on the PS4 before going live on the Xbox One and PC a week later.
What is Arsenal Sandstorm in Black Ops 4 and when does it go live?
Arsenal Sandstorm will be the next weather variant of an existing Multiplayer map in Black Ops 4, following Seaside Sunset, Firing Range Night, and Contraband Hurricane.
These variants, available for free to all players, feature an existing map but with an alteration made to its weather, lighting, and time-of-day.
It’s not exactly clear when Arsenal Sandstorm will be added in Black Ops 4, but according to the tweet above, it will be added after the Infected mode goes live.
When does the next Black Ops 4 Operation start, and what will it include?
The currently ongoing Operation Grand Heist is set to come to an end towards the end of April, giving way to a new Operation content stream later this month.
As had been expected, the tweet confirms that the new Operation will include new Multiplayer maps, just like previous two Operations, although it’s likely that the new maps will, once again, only be available to owners of the Black Ops Pass.
As for other Multiplayer content, the next Operation will include 100 tiers filled with new cosmetics, weapons, variants and Mastercrafts, and possibly even a new Specialist.
