Popular YouTuber Jake Paul responded to criticism following the release of Shane Dawson’s first documentary episode on the social media star – and also revealed his biggest fear about the series.
Paul stated that he was most nervous about the series’ later episodes, which would detail his relationship with YouTuber Alissa Violet.
The YouTuber was accused of abuse after footage of him spitting on his Violet was released in a now-deleted video.
“That’s definitely the part I’m most nervous about,” he admitted.
Paul stated that opening up to Dawson was ‘difficult,’ and admitted that he initially didn’t want to go forward with the series for fear that he would harm Dawson’s image.

However, he had faith that Dawson would be able to provide a genuine, unbiased account of his life, and decided to go through with the docuseries for that very reason.

Additionally, Paul stated that there would likely be instances in the series that he wouldn’t like, but acknowledged that watching those moments in the film would help him to grow as a person.
“The only way you can get better is if you acknowledge those things… and learn from that, and move on,” he stated.
Jake also mentioned that he had no influence on editing the series, and stated that he and Dawson had become close over the course of the filming process. He said that he was completely honest with anything asked of him, and didn’t set out to ‘expose’ anyone in the film.
He likewise admitted that Shane had told him what the series was ‘really about’ in the beginning of their talks, and had just been hyping it up as a secret, covert operation to expose his character.
With the first episode of the series already garnering over nine million views, this documentary could rival Dawson’s previous pieces over Jeffree Star and Tana Mongeau.
