Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg delivered on his promise to take a hiatus from YouTube, with no set return date. So when will he be returning from his Japanese adventures and feed The Bro Army’s craving for content?
PewDiePie has taken his second timeout from YouTube in less than 12 months. After tying the knot with long-term partner, Marzia, the Swede vacationed in the jungles of Bali.
Now, less than five months on from his vacation, Kjellberg has been enjoying a well-deserved break in Japan with Marzia.
With 102 million subscribers, the 30-year-old’s faithful following have all been wondering the same thing… when is PewDiePie coming back to YouTube? Here’s the story so far…
Marzia’s Instagram story
Those after their regular dose of the couple have been able to stay in-the-loop via Marzia’s social media — specifically her Instagram, where she has been documenting their immersion into Japan. The pair have previously revealed plans to move to the country permanently.
Now, however, the Italian has cut her trip short, revealing that Felix has stayed in Japan while she jets back to their home in the United Kingdom. “Flying back to the UK on my own. I wish I could stay in Japan but NOT YET” her Instagram story read.
Perhaps Marzia dashing off prematurely was a part of the plan all along, or maybe duty calls from back at home and she had to go and take care of business.
PewDiePie’s Eastern adventures
It is likely that PewDiePie will be following his partner in due course, considering that at the foot of Marzia’s post, she wrote: “Felix gets to stay a little longer this time.”
Nonetheless, Felix appears to be enjoying his time off in the Flowery Kingdom. Fellow YouTuber, Joey ‘The Anime Man’ Bizinger, uploaded a video of Pewds belting out the O-Zone classic ‘Dragostea Din Tei’ which was popularized by the ‘Numa Numa’ meme.
Since Felix hasn’t posted a meme review in over a month, so fans would have loved seeing him in full flow as he paid homage to the classic 2006 meme.

The Bro Army are still going strong
Despite being knee-deep in Eastern culture, PewDiePie’s YouTube channel is still amassing subscribers. Despite Kjellberg’s last video being posted almost three weeks ago (January 15), the king of YouTube has gained an average of 33,000 subs everyday since.
Part of that narrative is PewDiePie’s last video. The Bro Army have binged his last upload almost 20 million times, where he revealed that he’d be taking a break.
When will PewDiePie be making videos again?
Despite Kjellberg’s pledge to come back to YouTube with “10,000%,” the Swedish icon appears to have enjoyed his vacation (away from the rushes of YouTube stardom).
The reason for his break was mainly tiredness, so after a bit more time recharging his batteries, he should be set to go. PewDiePie’s subreddit has descended into a pit of memes and cries for their king to make his return.
His trusted editor, Sive Morten, explained that Felix is “unironically addicted to making YouTube videos,” in an interview. So if one thing’s guaranteed, it’s that he will be eager to scratch that itch as soon as possible.
Those that consider themselves a long-serving member of the Bro Army will empathize with the fact that he needed to take a break from the fast-paced lifestyle that he leads.
That’s not to say, however, that plenty won’t be itching to watch PewDiePie’s next video. While there is no set date for the Kjellberg’s return, it appears to be happening sooner rather than later.
