EA SPORTS have released an official statement regarding future Team of the Week selections in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team (FUT), after matches were canceled all around the world due to coronavirus fears but some players are still concerned about FUT Champs.
Many countries have moved to ban large gatherings of people, preventing football fans from attending matches and in some cases – such as Arsenal vs Manchester City – games are also being postponed. Premier League fixtures have since been canceled until the beginning of April following measures that put a ban on handshakes before the game to mitigate the risk of any virus spreading – with other major leagues having followed suit.
With some players reaching out to the developers on social media, wondering what would happen in terms of TOTW and TOTS selections should leagues make the decision to completely suspend play, EA have moved to somewhat reassure players.
On March 12, EA released their 26th TOTW for FIFA 20, following a brief delay. Some fans have since expressed their concerns about how the suspension of major leagues would impact the football title, but have quickly been met with a response.
Using their official FIFA Direct Communication Twitter account, the devs tweeted: “We will not be releasing TOTW 27 due to the ongoing suspensions of football leagues around the world. However, it will be replaced with player content available in packs and via FUT Champions Player Picks from next week.”
This is an ever-changing situation and one we’re working hard to adapt to as we move forward. We’ll have more information on this and other upcoming content next week.

Will FUT Champs be suspended due to Coronavirus?
With the majority of major European leagues now in a suspension period, and no Team of The Week to get excited for, should that stop you playing FUT Champs?
Well, no. EA have confirmed that there will be new content for FUT Champs players through the red player pick packs that come after the Weekend League has concluded. What that will be, however, remains to be seen.
As for further implications, like Team of the Season, it seems that the only logical thing do would be to pick players that have performed well in each league up to the point when matches were suspended.
Presumably, should that turn out to be the case, the stream of constant in-form cards being handed to those who are performing well in real life would have to cease at some stage. Though, we’re not at that point of total content shutdown just yet.
