A new leak has revealed that an ‘Infected’ game mode could soon be added to Fortnite for a limited time.
Epic Games is known for introducing a wide range of unique Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) to Fortnite and is regularly adding new playlists to keep the game fresh.
Following some newly leaked game files, it appears as if yet another LTM, titled ‘Arsenic,’ could be set to hit live servers soon.
The new LTM, which was likely inspired by the classic Halo and Call of Duty ‘Infection’ game modes, would introduce abilities that have never been seen in Fortnite before.
Fortnite data miner FortTory revealed that the new “Arsenic” playlist was added to the game files and featured abilities such as ‘Double Jump,’ ‘Growl,’ and more.
These infection modes have been recreated in many multiplayer titles in the past, where infected players with unlimited lives and unique abilities would have to try and hunt down any survivors, often using melee attacks to infect opposing players.

FortTory also revealed some quotes from the game files, confirming much of the speculation around the potential playlist.
Fortnite’s Save the World mode also features some infected characters so it is possible that these will become playable once the LTM is finally live.
”You’ve become Infected! Get out there and take care of those pesky humans”
”Just one human remains! Team up and take them down!”
”You’re human! If you want to stay that way, gear up, team up, and survive against the Infected.”

However, due to Fortnite’s massive map, it is unclear just how matches of “Arsenic” will look and Epic may also need to cut down the 100 player lobbies to reduce the time it takes to finish a round.
While it was hinted that Epic was working on this Infected mode near the start of Season 2, the playlist now being added to the game files suggests that it could be introduced shortly.
