The Fortnite devs have released the v12.40 patch to the battle royale, and here’s everything we know was included in the update.
Chapter 2 has seen a regular schedule of Fortnite updates which the devs have been happy to pack with additions to the island that slightly tweak the game. Following in that scheme, the devs are back with another downtime announcement for the next entry in Season 2’s story.

The time will allow for a lot of players to schedule when to drop into their last games before the servers get ready for the next installment of files for the upcoming patch.
What’s in v12.40?
Bug fixes
As you’ll know by now, Epic doesn’t release official patch notes anymore, but we can piece them together ourselves.
To start, there have been a slew of bug fixes that the game has desperately needed. Fortnite players have been reporting issues with controllers not vibrating while taking damage, temporarily disabled grenades, among other things.
Doomsday Device
Then there is the Doomsday Device. Numerous leaks pointed to an ominous Doomsday Device concealed at The Agency, but no evidence of it has yet to pop up in the game.

New Modes Leaked
It looks like Epic Games are preparing some new LTM’s, with leakers revealing an Infected LTM on the way soon.
''You've become Infected! Get out there and take care of those pesky humans''
''Just one human remains! Team up and take them down!''
''You're human! If you want to stay that way, gear up, team up, and survive against the Infected.''

New weapons?
And for the most exciting part, a weapon leak revealed details of a new Rocket Launcher rumored to appear in Fortnite.
Codenamed the ‘MistyBop,’ it could be that players will have a chance to try out a new weapon equipped with missile battery munitions.
It may not be immediately available after the update, but we expect some updates made to the game files to get ready for this and other new weapons.
For now, you can drop in to the battle royale to check out everything that’s new.
