The annual E3 trade show is like Christmas for many video game fans as they gear up for announcements about consoles, new games, and just about everything else you can imagine. With E3 2019 right around the corner, here are five games that could blow everyone away this year.
5. Doom Eternal
The sequel to Doom (or Doom 4) was first teased at E3 2018. It wasn’t until Quakecon, three months later, that we got to see some gameplay. Following the reveal of ultra-smooth, violent and arcade style gameplay, the hype for the next Doom sky-rocketed.
It has been three years since we last saw the unkillable Doom Slayer in action, which will appease fans much more than the 12 year wait between Doom 3 and 4.
The Doom Eternal showcase at E3 2019 should share more gameplay, what features we can expect from the game and most importantly we may finally get a release date.
4. Cyberpunk 2077
The futuristic role playing game is, as the name suggests, set in 2077. The setting for the game is Night City, California, and will be an open world format.
Following on from a 48 minute walkthrough video that was revealed at E3 2018, it has been confirmed that E3 2019 will show actual gameplay, albeit played by the developers.
Surprisingly to many, the original trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 was released all the way back in 2013. Thankfully, it is strongly suggested that E3 2019 will provide a release date – which is expected to be some time in 2021.
The game is developed by CD Projekt Red and will release on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
3. Pokemon Sword Shield
Pokemon’s newest game has been teased for a number of years now. The title of the second Pokemon game to appear on the Nintendo Switch was revealed to be Pokemon Sword and Shield in February 2019.
Since that reveal, no further information about the game has been provided. However, a Pokemon Direct has been confirmed for June 5 which has promised to reveal new details.
As this is a 15 minute long presentation, the details provided should be fairly substantial. New Pokemon, new features, and a release date could all be shared within the livestream.
How this will affect what is revealed at E3 2019 during Nintendo’s presentation remains to be seen.

2. Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite will serve as a sequel to the 2015 Halo 5: Guardians game. As it is published by Microsoft Studios, it will only be available on the PC and Xbox One.
The title was arguably the biggest shooting game in the early 2000s, but as the likes of Call of Duty, Battlefield, and more recently battle royale games such as Fortnite Battle Royale have come to prominence, the Halo series has taken somewhat of a back seat.
Nevertheless, there are still millions of hardcore Halo fans who will be desperately awaiting more news of the next Halo game after a wait of four years.
343 Industries, one of Halo’s developers, has been developing a new game engine called the Slipspace Engine. While little is known about it, Halo enthusiasts will be hoping it can bring the series back to the forefront of shooters once again.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Whether you like it or not, when a brand new Call of Duty game is on the horizon, it is going to be in or around the number one spot.
The brand new 2019 CoD game was revealed on May 30 and already has fans excited for the upcoming game. This excitement is arguably greater than previous years, not just because of the new game engine (which has been in development for over five years), but the reported brutality and realness of the campaign too.
Black Ops 4 didn’t have a story mode, a decision which received a mixed response, but many fans will be hoping this year’s will more than make up for it.
However, now the attention turns to Modern Warfare’s multiplayer. Infinity Ward will be hosting a Coliseum Panel at the annual event, but what they will be talking about is unknown.
The likelihood is there won’t be anything too significant revealed, but gamers will remain optimistic that they will at least get some form of multiplayer information.
