Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek was thoroughly enjoying his time playing through Half-Life: Alyx and praised Valve for implementing some features he truly loved.
While experimenting with the VR title’s ‘gravity gloves,’ which allow players to grab objects lying around and manipulate them, the Canadian voiced how much he admired the tool.
“This is such a cool mechanic, dude,” he said while summoning items into his hands. “Honestly, that is a genius mechanic. Valve is so smart.” (Timestamp 8:00 for mobile users)
He went on to voice his approval of the company’s decision to put resources into making Alyx a complete VR experience.
“I’m so happy they made a VR game. That’s so different. That’s really cool stuff,” he added.
Later on in the video (at 11:17), he explained why he believes Valve made Alyx instead of Half-Life 3.

“It’s crazy that we had no idea what Valve was up to, and this is what they were f**king scheming,” he said before reading a comment from his chat that said Half-Life 3 was preferred.
“You have to realize Valve is about innovation,” he explained. “Half-Life is about innovation. Half-Life 1 was the iteration of voice acting in a video game and they kind of nailed that… Half-Life 2 was the iteration of physics, voice acting and facial movements. That’s kind of what Half-Life 2 perfected.”
According to shroud, the technology isn’t there yet for Valve to “innovate something new.”
“What they did instead was they did Half-Life: Alyx,” the retired CSGO star theorized. “This is brand new. This is the top-of-the-line VR currently. It doesn’t get any better than what they made right now.”
“Half-Life 3 will come out when they are ready and they think the tech is there to innovate something new,” he concluded, but suggested that they could already be working on the long-awaited title. “Innovation takes time.”
Shroud isn’t the only one impressed with the new VR game. The title has even received universal acclaim with an average score of 92 on Metacritic, proving that the latest Half-Life installment is already a smash hit with players across the board.
