Apex Legends was released on Monday, February 4 and players have already found an apparent reference to Overwatch contained within the game.
Like Overwatch, EA’s new battle royale game Apex features characters with unique abilities, and although the games are made by different publishers, fans have noticed that two characters seem to resemble one another.
As you can see below, Overwatch’s Bastion and Apex’s Pathfinder look very similar, even if they don’t share many characteristics.
Unlike Bastion, Pathfinder is fairly mobile and has a grapple hook that operates similar to Widowmaker’s. Plus, Pathfinder is notably lacking the ability to turn into a tank.
Reddit user arzamar discovered another difference as well: Pathfinder doesn’t seem to get along as well with birds as Bastion does.
One of Pathfinder’s banner poses is called ‘For the Birds’ and in it the character holds out their arm for a bird to land on, similar to Bastion and his companion Ganymede.
Except instead of landing on Pathfinder like Ganymede, it attacks and send the robot running.

The beginning of Pathfinder’s pose does look pretty similar to Bastion’s ‘Birdwatching’ victory pose, but it could be a reference to another hero in Apex Legends as well.
Apex’s Bloodhound is often shown with crows landing on the hero’s arm, similar to what Pathfinder is attempting to do in his pose.
Even if it wasn’t meant to be taken that way, based on the amount of upvotes arzamar’s post has on Reddit, fans took the idea of the pose being an Overwatch reference and ran with it.
