After just under two weeks on the PTR, Overwatch players got their first look at Echo’s upcoming base skins and cosmetics in an update on March 31.
New skins are many Overwatch fans’ favorite part of the game, so anytime a new hero has them revealed, it’s almost like a mini-event.
Echo is no different, and it’s clear that developers have had the art department spending plenty of time coming up with unique skin ideas for the hero.

Her Rare skins are your standard, base skin recolors in lime green, powder blue/purple, burnt orange, and a light pink, similar to Mercy’s charity skin.
Echo receives two Epics to start out: the green and black “Carbon Fiber,” similar to Orisa’s skin of the same name, and the cherry red “Hot Rod” skin.
In the Legendary department, the 32nd hero receives the tactical-looking Camo and Stealth skins, along with the whimsical Butterfly and Moth colors.
The Camo and Stealth skins are similar, and seem to be based on some early concept art that made Echo appear far more intimidating – and more like the DPS she actually is.

The Moth and Butterfly skins make up the other half of Echo’s Legendary skins, and do a great job of making her look like a winged insect.

Mercy has commonly been referred to as ‘moth’ by players since Overwatch came out, but a new Echo skin may not be enough to change players’ habits like that, no matter how good it looks.
However, San Francisco Shock support Grant “moth” Espe is probably thrilled to have an Overwatch skin bearing his name’s likeness. If Echo had actually been a support hero, it would have been perfect.

Echo’s golden gun transforms the white areas on both of her forearms and hands, and is definitely more shiny and noticeable than Sigma’s tiny golden orbs, for instance.
Finally, videos of her emotes and highlight intros were shared by Overbuff on Twitter – and one of them seems to be a straight-up strobe light.
Whether or not you’ll be able to blind other players with the emote remains to be seen, but it certainly makes any other visual taunt seem dim, in comparison.

We still don’t know how much time Echo has on the PTR before coming to the main game, but if they’re giving her skins, emotes and other cosmetics, we’re definitely getting closer to the newest DPS hero’s Overwatch debut.
