It has been reported that an Overwatch League Season Two expansion team will be based in Toronto.
Over.gg reports that though the ownership of the Toronto franchise is unknown, it is likely that Splyce will be brought on to manage the team.
This would not be the first Overwatch League franchise with non-endemic ownership partnering with an esports team. The Los Angeles Gladiators is owned by the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment Group, but is operated by Sentinels, the organization formerly known as Phoenix1.
So far, two new Overwatch League franchises have been announced for Season Two. An Atlanta-based team is owned by Cox Enterprises, and a Guangzhou-based team is owned by Nenking Group. In addition, a Paris-based franchise is reportedly in the works.

Previous statements by Blizzard have suggested there could be up to six expansion teams, leaving a further two spots potentially open. Season Two spots are reportedly selling for $30-60 million, a distinct increase from the $20 million Season One buy-in, with exact price depending on a number of factors including the Overwatch player-base and general population of the city.
Expansion teams will have an exclusive window from September 9 to sign free agents, so it’s likely that all new additions to the league will have been officially confirmed by then. No time-line has been given for unveiling team names and branding.
