South Korea’s run of dominance continued at the 2018 Overwatch World Cup after defeating China in the Grand Final.
The South Koreans have now won three straight World Cups and have yet to lose a single match in the international competition.
They reached the final after defeating a fiesty U.K team in the round of 4, continuing the English tradition of losing in semi-finals.

China’s dream tournament continued after defeating Team Canada in the Round of 4 to set up the match with South Korea.
The Grand Final started in predictable fashion, with South Korea breezing through the first Control map to take a 1-0 lead.
The second map was not much better for the underdog Chinese as they failed to escort their payload past the first checkpoint, dropping the Hybrid match on King’s Row for a 2-0 deficit headed into the first break.

Jjonak’s Zenyatta brought his NYXL form to the Grand Finals, providing too much damage for China to deal with. Fate’s clever Winston play led to a 15 streak at a crucial moment to stonewall the Chinese in the second point of Anubis to take a 3-0 lead map count.
The fourth map was tightly contested as China came to life, holding the South Koreans to only 60 meters of Payload movement in the overtime round.
But it was Fleta’s Brigitte who caught fire on defense to stifle the Chinese just 2 meters short of the objective, earning the South Koreans a clean sweep and the World Cup Championship.
China earned a well deserved silver medal to raise the country’s spirits after a disappointing season for China’s only team, the Shanghai Dragons, in the Overwatch League.
South Korea did not drop a single map at Blizzcon, with only the U.K managing to draw two maps against the World Champions.
