The Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC gave players the chance to hunt down a bunch of new Galarian Pokemon, but the Galarian Slowpoke is one of the easiest to find. Here’s how.
Game Freak released two different Pokemon Sword and Shield DLCs throughout 2020 that greatly expanded the game. The first, Isle of Armor, was a never before seen location that allowed players to find a whole host of different Pokemon, many of which weren’t included in the vanilla Pokemon Sword and Shield when they released.
The Galarian Slowpoke was all added to the Sword and Shield Pokedex as part of these updates. So, if you’re wondering where to find it, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s what you need to know to catch a Galarian Slowpoke in the Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC chapters.

Galarian Slowpoke location in Pokemon Sword and Shield
Just like many other Galar Region forms, Slowpoke looks slightly different to how fans of the original series will remember it. The new version, adapted for Gen 8, features what looks like a gold crown on its head.
It is caught in a very different way to most other species in Sword and Shield, however, as you’re not going to be looking for one of these in the wild.
Firstly, make sure that your Nintendo Switch game is fully updated with the latest Pokemon patches, then make your way to Wedgehurst, which can be easily located on our map below. From there, you’re going to need to visit the train station below the Pokemon Center at this point of interest.

Galarian Slowpoke location next stage
Depending on which game you’re playing, you will be greeted by a character inside. This will be either or Klara (Pokemon Sword) or Avery (Pokemon Shield), both of which are your new rivals as part of the expansion. They can be seen below.
Once you have interacted with them, a cutscene will begin to promote the expansion pass and then a lv.12 Galarian Slowpoke – which is something of a first-look of what to expect from the DLC – arrives on screen. From there, you will be given a choice to battle it in the middle of the room and catch it. It really is as easy as that!
How to evolve Galarian Slowpoke
To evolve Galarian Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking you’ll need something called the Galarica Cuff. These can be traded with a female NPC found on an island out in the Workout Sea. She’ll offer to trade you 8 Galarica Twigs for her Galarica Cuff. You can farm Galarica Twigs by searching beneath the trees on the Isle of Armor.
You’ll be able to spot them by finding the twinkling spots on the ground. Once you’ve gathered 8 Galarica Twigs, trade them with the nice lady for your Galarica Cuff, then use this on your Galarian Slowpoke to evolve it into a Galarian Slowking.
