Niantic are in a sticky situation. Pokemon Go is at heart a mobile game that encourages you to go outside but due to current global events, it’s quickly becoming a game that you have to play at home.
People across the world are being encouraged to only leave their homes when absolutely necessary. Even if you’re the most hardcore of Pokemon Go trainers, this doesn’t include popping out for a quick Raid Battle.
So, trainers, at least when the ordeal started, were in a tricky spot when it came to playing Pokemon Go. Thankfully Niantic have already made notable changes to the game that allows players to ‘catch ’em all’ without leaving the house.
Now, Niantic have outlined some further changes they plan to add to Pokemon Go. These will go one step further, giving you further freedom to enjoy the mobile Pokemon experience at home.
Pokemon Go in your house
Niantic have listed four key elements they intend to update to give players more flexibility while playing. A time frame for these changes was not discussed.
Adventure Sync
A big part of Pokemon Go is hatching eggs which requires you to walk a specific distance. Using Adventure Sync, this can currently be done in the comfort of your home.
However, as many trainers will attest to, the tracking isn’t as good as when you’re outside. Niantic intend to fix that though, stating: “We’re going to make improvements to Adventure Sync so it works even better with indoor movement and activities.”

Raid Battles from home
Perhaps the most notable change we can look forward to is the possibility of being able to participate in Raid Battles from home. What’s more is that you’ll be able to take down those legendary Pokemon with all your old friends, too.
Presumably you’ll be able to create some form of party with players on your friend list. Details about this remain sparse but this is massive news in itself.
Pokemon Go Fest
The Pokemon Go Fest live events are where trainers meet up on mass in real life and play the game together. Those events have understandably been canceled, however.
Fortunately it looks like Niantic has something in the works to make up for it. “We’re working on an entirely new way to enjoy Pokémon GO Fest”, “bringing the excitement directly to your home,” Niantic revealed on their blog.
For those of you who were concerned Pokemon Go would fade away this summer, it looks like you were wrong. Niantic have already adapted to the current circumstances and they’re by no means finished yet.
