Amazon may have accidentally leaked the new release date for Naughty Dog’s long-awaited sequel to The Last of Us.
The PlayStation 4 exclusive, which was scheduled to release on May 29, was put on an indefinite hold due to current world events on April 2.
Update: SIE has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.

Now, it would seem like Amazon may have leaked the new release date before a formal announcement.
According to the site, The Last of Us Part 2 will release on Friday, June 26, 2020. This is interesting because it’s about a full month after the originally planned launch.

That said, it’s weird that Sony would say the game is delayed “until further notice” when it just ends up getting released a month later than planned.
Amazon has since updated the listing’s release to December 31, 2020, however, this is likely a placeholder date as many titles without a confirmed release use the last day of the year until a launch is confirmed.

After the delay, Vice President of Naughty Dog and writer/director Neil Druckmann suggested that an early digital release is a possibility.
“We’re right now looking at all sorts of different options,” he said on the PlayStation Blogcast. “What’s the best way to get it to all of our fans as soon as possible? But that’s gonna take time for us to shift and figure things out.”
However, he also found that it may be unfair for fans in countries with poorer internet. “Whether we can get physical copies to people, is the internet infrastructure there to support in all countries?”
Until we get any official news, it’s best to treat this leak with a grain of salt, but you never know what the fate of the title could really be.
The Last of Us originally launched in 2013 on the PS3 and became a worldwide hit, selling over 8 million copies by 2014. A remastered version was released on the PS4 with higher resolution graphics and gameplay enhancements.
