Amid all the excitement for The Last of Us 2, HBO have announced that a TV show for the critically-acclaimed video game is in the works, to be adapted by ‘Chernobyl’ creator Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann.
Since its release back in 2013, The Last of Us has been one of the most popular and successful video games for gaming enthusiasts worldwide. With over 17 million copies sold, it’s currently ranked 49th in the Top-50 best-selling titles of all time.
Considering how well-received it is, particularly when it comes to its narrative and characterization, it’s no surprise that someone’s decided to try and translate that success to the TV screen.
On March 5, HBO tweeted out the first-ever teaser for the show – an animated version of the game’s iconic logo that was used by the in-game revolutionary militia group called The Fireflies, along with the caption, “Look for the light.”
They also revealed who will be heading the project, and the names definitely add to the excitement. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Craig Mazin, creator of the popular HBO series ‘Chernobyl,’ will be “re-teaming” with the network to adapt the game.
He’ll be partnered up with Neil Druckmann, Vice President of Naughty Dog, who both wrote and was creative director of The Last of Us. He’s easily the biggest name associated with the title, and is often looked to by fans for the latest information regarding the highly-anticipated sequel, The Last of Us 2.
