It looks like Riot Games have created the perfect Valorant Agent for Jaryd ‘Summit1G’ Lazar, whose infamous 1G curse has turned into a blessing with Phoenix.
Lazar’s molotov curse stems all the way back to his Counter-Strike roots, where the former pro infamously died at the hands of his own incendiary grenade in a high-stakes elimination match at DreamHack Austin.
Fast-forward to the present day and the aptly named ‘1G Curse’ appears to have followed Summit throughout his Twitch streaming ventures — most recently in Infinity Ward’s hit battle royale, Warzone.
But it appears that Riot has designed a Valorant character that will suit Summit’s playstyle perfectly, especially considering the curse that looms over the 26-year-old’s head.
During Valorant’s Twitch debut on April 3, Lazar jested about how Phoenix is essentially Summit-proof. “So the thing about the molotovs in this game, is if you’re playing Phoenix your molotovs hurt your teammates and they hurt your enemies, but they heal you!”
So what appeared to be a curse for Lazar, is now a blessing in disguise in Valorant — providing that the streamer opts to main Phoenix as his go-to Agent.

“I’ve been waiting to tell you guys that for so long,” Summit jested. “Imagine me, having to wait to tell you guys that we don’t have to worry about the molotov from ourselves, you know what I mean?”
Of course, this doesn’t give Summit complete immunity from fire in Valorant. Should the veteran streamer decide to run Brimstone, the Controller Agent’s ‘Incendiary’ ability arms them with a grenade that deploys a damaging field of fire, which can harm anyone on the server (including yourself).
While Phoenix might be an obvious choice for Summit, he rocked both Brimstone and Sova during the Twitch Rivals tournament (which pooled some of the biggest names in gaming together to showcase the game).
Ironically, Lazar seemed at home with Brimstone as he topped the leaderboard with that Agent in the final game of the three-match series.
