Infinity Ward has announced the return of Warzone trios this weekend in the title’s new playlist update, just days after first making the contentious call to remove the popular Modern Warfare battle royale mode.
Season 3’s bumper April 8 patch introduced two new playlists for Warzone fans in quads and solos. As it turned out, however, these arriving modes came at the expense of launch playlist trios, and fans were less than pleased.
Across the internet, the Call of Duty devs were slammed with backlash over the removal, and it seems like they were listening — trios is back.
“A playlist update is rolling out now across all platforms! We’ve added BR Trios back into Warzone,” Infinity Ward’s announcement read.
There’s been no indication as yet whether trios will be making a permanent return to CoD’s battle royale title, or if it’s simply a limited release for the weekend. For now though, solos, trios, and squads are all available in Warzone.

While Infinity Ward seem to have listened to their fans, the re-release of trios hasn’t been as smooth as the devs may have liked. Players loading into the returning mode soon discovered Season 3’s loot updates haven’t carried over.

According to CharlieIntel, trios “does not have the updated ground loot and loot pool update that Solos and Quads have after the Season 3 update.” On top of that, pre-season 3 loot is still appearing in the three-player mode.
The devs have yet to acknowledge whether this is a deliberate decision, or a bug caused by rushing out the Trios playlist. Considering the efforts they put in to fix Warzone’s loot pool imbalance, however, it’s likely a glitch, not a feature.
It currently looks like BR Trios does not have the updated ground loot and loot pool update that Solos and Quads have after Season 3 update. Trios seems to have the same pre-Season 3 loot.

While Solos and Quads being added to Warzone were a major part of the Season 3 update, that’s not all Infinity Ward swapped up for Modern Warfare on April 8. The new patch also added a new battle pass, and two new guns.
